Many times brand new natural stone floors & surfaces like marble can benefit from being sealed. Natural stone sometimes can be porous and can stain easily without being sealed. Many times Tile Installers or contractors will apply a sealer improperly and cause a mess. A number of times we were hired to remove sealer residue and topical haze. Proper Sealing leaves no visible appearance and will not alter the look of the stone. We have serviced customers many times in upscale neighborhoods like colts neck & Rumson NJ. Check out this picture of a job we just completed in Colts Neck NJ. This beautiful home had the rustic looking brick lay tile with wide grout lines typical of the nicer homes that were built in the 1990’s. However wide grout lines can be a real challenge to clean and keep clean. We deep cleaned the kitchen floor and sealed the grout to make it easier to maintain clean grout. The job took 2 days but the kitchen was completely usable most of the duration of time we were there. Check out some more before and after pictures at https://groutworksnj.com/gallery Many times grout is cleaned with harsh chemicals and scrubbed vigorously by well meaning homeowners. However grout can be compromised by abrasive scrubbing and chemicals if done repeatedly. We recommend color sealing grout lines for optimal stain protection. By color sealing grout lines a simple cleaning can clean off dirt on the grout lines quite easily without the need for abrasive brushes and harsh chemicals. By properly sealing your grout it will look better and last longer. Slate Flooring can vary significantly in various homes. Some slates are very porous and absorbent. They require multiple coats of sealer to prevent staining. Some slates are not porous at all but look quite dull and color less without a penetrating impregnating color enhancing sealer or a wet looking topical sealer. At Grout Works of Central NJ we specialize in restoring slate floors and surfaces and guiding our customers on the best way to maintain their...
This marble polishing job we recently completed was a bottucino marble floor in a Princeton NJ residence that had lost it’s shine. Notice the huge contrast in these before and after pics and how before there was no reflection and after it reflects like a mirror. Many glamorous halls and buildings have highly polished marble floors. Many times it is terrazzo which has no grout joints separating it. This has a sleek appearance that spreads like glass. Even with grout lines if they are thin and the grout color matches to blend properly it can have a similiar effect. Color sealing grout can achieve this by customizing the grout color desired without the need to remove or change grout. Furthermore this will enable easier maintenance by rendering the grout stain proof. Check out our marble & natural stone page for more information about diamond honing marble and powder polishing...
Here are the top ten mistakes people make both in residential homes as well as commercial venues in cleaning tile floors. 1. Using dirty water. If your mop bucket does not contain enough water to properly clean your tile floor you will just be spreading around dirty water. Take note of how the water in your mop bucket looks halfway through cleaning your floor. Does it look real dirty ? If so you need a bigger mop bucket or you need to change the water as you clean more often. 2. Using a dirty mop. This basically has the same effect as in #1. Be sure to remove your mop head after usage and wash it. Many mop heads afre machine washable. 3. Not towel drying as you mop. If you allow the water on the floor to air dry where do you think all the dirt on the floor goes ? It goes into the water pools up in the grout lines (which are slightly lower than the tiles) and that is the reason for dirty grout. Think of your grout lines as a receptacle or drain for all the dirt on your floor/ When you mop you basically just push all the dirt fright into the grout ! The trick is to mop small sections of the floor at a time and towel dry the water and soak up all that dirt before it begins to dry. 4. Drying with a small rag or dirty towel. The whole idea of drying as stated prior is if their is sufficient absorption of a clean towel to soak up...
