Grout Works of Central NJ provide professional stone refinishing services in Little Silver NJ as well as in other surrounding towns in monmouth county NJ. Marble, Travertine & Limestone as well as other natural stones require proper maintenance. All marbles including carrara, calacutta, brown emperador, botticino, crema marfil along with other limestones, travertine, onyx, soapstone and many other natural stones require usage of cleaning products that are compatible with natural stone. Just because a product is all natural or “green” does not mean it is suitable for marble, limestone or travertine. In fact vinegar is extremely harmful for use on calcite stones such as marble, limestone and travertine They also require professional refinishing occasionally by a Professional Natural Stone Restoration company since these stones are soft and scratch easily. The first step in professional restoration is to hone the stone with diamonds to remove scratches and marks. After that the stone could be polished with polishing compounds just like the factory to produce a shine from the stone itself. Some stones look nicer unpolished with a more natural matted look which is called a “honed finish” Stones like travertine and limestone and sometimes marble as well will be in a honed finish as opposed to a polish finish. We offer to polish or hone the stone as well as various customized finishes like a muted polish or a high hone where there is a subtle shine. Many of our customers ask to have their stone sealed. However generally they do not realize the limitations of a sealer. In fact a sealer only helps prevent colored stains on stone not the more common etches from...

This before and after picture was of a kitchen floor in Jackson NJ in the Four Seasons adult community. The home had been sold to a new resident and understandably they wanted to have their bathroom and kitchen floor grout cleaned professionally and made to look brand new. No one likes moving in to a new house and feel like they are living in someone else’s house and have someone else’s dirt. Although over time grout can get dirty even in the cleanest of homes people can tolerate their own dirt much more than someone else’s dirt. Naturally we get a lot of phone calls from people that have recently purchased a home and want their tile and grout professionally cleaned for aesthetic and sanitary reasons. Bathroom and shower grout and caulk is definitely a common repair. Although lighter tile like white ceramic tile with white grout is most noticeable when dirty or stained even medium and darker colors can look dirty and inconsistent from staining as well. Kitchen floor tile and grout is another common area that has high traffic. Spills are especially frequent in front of the refrigerator and stove. Many times a kitchen may look spotless except one stubborn spot of grout that was permanently stained by coffee. Although sometimes it is impossible to clean it and restore the original grout color, we offer the option to restain the grout color to restore the exact original appearance. This option sets us apart from many companies that offer grout cleaning as an add on to their other services like carpet cleaning. I cannot tell you how many...
Regrouting commercial kitchen floors is a common request we receive. Due to the heat and grease many times the grout will come apart especially near the fryers. Many places want epoxy grout installed due to its higher durability. However quickly retract that once the price tag for epoxy grout becomes apparent. Although many corporate requests are for laticrete spectralock epoxy grout in truth only the industrial grade epoxy grout is recommended for commercial kitchens not the regular spectralock epoxy. Another issue is the longer cure time and drying time for the grout lines which means down time for a commercial kitchen and lost business. One option we offer is a specific rapid set polymer modified grout which is a much higher performance grout than regular sanded grout. An even bigger benefit is that it dries within hours. However there is no question that 100% solids epoxy grout will outperform any other grout. However there is a third option which I believe is overlooked by many and in truth I believe is the best option of all. That option is like an epoxy quartz overlay or a urethane concrete overlay. An existing quarry tile floor (which is the typical tile floor in an industrial kitchen) can be properly prepped and then a thin poured floor can be put right on top. This can be made from materials like epoxy and stone that will outlast any quarry tile floor. It dries quickly and requires very little down time. It can withstand the high heat of fryers and chemicals from cleaning. It is also a textured surface that is not slippery even...
